I was in a cyber cafe one evening and I saw one guy coding with a laptop that had a cracked screen.
The laptop battery was bad, so anytime NEPA took light, his system would go off immediately.
At first, I won’t lie, I judged him.
I was like, “How far person wan go with this kind setup?” Months later, I saw that same guy again. But this time?
Everybody in the cafe was greeting him with respect. I later found out he got a remote job paying in dollars. The crazy part is not even the money.
The crazy part is what he told me that day.
He said:
“Most people are waiting for perfect conditions before they start. Meanwhile, the people winning are just learning how to move with imperfect conditions.”
That line changed something in me. Because especially here in Nigeria, it’s easy to complain. bad electriity, high cost of data, no good laptop. no support.
And truthfully, those things are real problems.
But sometimes, the difference between the person that makes it and the person that gives up is not talent.
It’s simply who stayed long enough. A lot of people quit too early, not because they were bad.but because results were slow.
Tech rewards consistency in a very strange way.
One day you feel lost, confused, and broke.
Next thing, one opportunity changes your entire life.
So if you’re currently learning tech and it feels like nothing is working yet, Keep going.
Your current situation is not a prophecy.
It’s just a phase.
