300 participants have already voted in our STAR and Ranked Choice Voting mock election for the 2026 California Governor. If you haven’t voted already, last day to vote is tomorrow 6/2 at 11:59PM! bettervoting.com/gvdy42

Californians are having a hard time deciding which candidate to support for governor. If we had STAR Voting we would be able to support as many candidates as we like! Try STAR out here with a bonus of trying out Ranked Choice Voting too: bettervoting.com/gvdy42

California's top-two elections system mitigates vote-splitting, but does not eliminate it. This is at the top of many Californians minds now, as the Governor's race is highlighting the issue. ppic.org/blog/california-vot…

Some have proposed getting rid of the top-two system (as @PPICNotes mentions in the article above), but why go from one broken system to an older also-broken system? Instead, why don't we upgrade to a better voting method?

Our incredible @5STARCalifornia chapter is hard at work. They have seen how the top-two California primary for governor is causing controversy due to the potential for vote-splitting. But they are not just sitting around. They are working on a solution! 🧵 ⬇️

The California Governor Race has definitely sparked talks about alternative voting reforms. Indivisible California used STAR Voting to see which Democrat candidate is most preferred in the organization:
Bettervoting.com had its biggest election so far! Almost 12,000 @IndiCAStatewide voters chimed in to share their views on who should be California's next governor. bettervoting.com/3vjtj4/resu…

With its problems laid bare by the California Governor's race it's important to remember that Top Two is still more accurate than traditional primaries and a general with one candidate from each party -- but there's definitely room for improvement.

The Plurality top-2 primary has the same expressivity and spoiler problems as the status quo. Although the top-2 phase helps, we need a system like STAR or Approval Top-2 to truly solve the problem. Read more at starvoting.org/accuracy

This poll took place before Swalwell dropped out. To learn more about how his dropout affects California voters, and how we can make elections better in the future, check out our post on this subject: x.com/TheEqualVote/status/20…

California's front runner dropped out last minute, what now? 🧵 ⬇️ pbs.org/newshour/politics/wh…

Swalwell is already on the ballot, so anyone who votes for him is effectively wasting their vote! When voters can only support one candidate, a late dropout can cause chaos in elections that voters cannot easily recover from. 🧵 ⬇️

In elections that allow support for multiple candidates, such chaos is avoided entirely! Click here to learn about a simple change to how we vote that lets us express support for many candidates and elect the candidate with the best overall support! starvoting.org
