California desperately needs to give voters the ability to vote for all the candidates they like rather than just one. If they did that, every runoff would be between the two actually most popular candidates in the state (which would always be two Democrats).

Imagine your ballot listed all the candidates for a given office, and next to each name, you had a simple checkbox. With Approval Voting, you can check off as many candidates as you "approve" of. The candidate with the most "approvals" wins. #votingreform #elections #democracy

Approval voting offers a fresh approach to redistricting. It's a method that would significantly reduce the incentive for partisan line-drawing and make elections more competitive. #ApprovalVoting #Redistricting #ElectionReform Electionscience.org

Seeking common ground? Implementing Approval Voting can cool down our heated politics by rewarding candidates who build broad consensus. Let's prioritize civility and decorum over partisan warfare. A calmer process leads to better policy. electionscience.org

Replying to @garrytan
Garry, the number one structural solve here is approval voting. @ElectionScience is the best resource. Ask Claude to defend why approval voting implementation is the single-highest leverage action to take.

What we're reading: "The only system that checks all of the boxes is Approval voting. It is the only system that makes sense in this era of distrust in our elections. It is the most reliable, robust, and practical solution available to us right now." eigentaylor.github.io/blog/d…

Gerrymandering lets politicians choose their voters. Vote splitting lets winners emerge without a majority. Together, they dilute your voice. 📉 Approval Voting changes the math: ✅ No "spoilers" ✅ Vote for all you like ✅ Broadest support wins It’s time to move forward 🗳️✨
