Necessarily that definite thing not to believe in is inside creation and is therefore by definition not God. So this reduces the argument to “I don’t believe in something I have predefined as not true”. This however leaves something. Not nothing: Truth. From here is perfectly reasonable to define God as that which is true and believe in that instead. It’s just to lose the straw man of the “God” one does not believe in by definition. We can the add some other standard descriptions to that which is truthful, such as the light, the way, all knowing, ever present, judging the living and the dead (or inanimate if one prefers). So now let’s do some kind of basic test. Say we throw a stone over a building and let’s say it hits an unseen pedestrian. Let’s say upon discovering this was the consequence of throwing the stone we say “oh God I don’t believe it”. Consider the composition of the stone down to the infinitesimal detail of its mass distribution and topology, everywhere in the universe its elements have been before picking it up, that of every element of the air also, the exact flight path of the stone in relation to every physical reaction - on and on without limit. The thing that judges that in truth it should exactly on its actual trajectory according to any of the laws of physics we know about and are true and any that we have not yet discovered and in detail we cannot simulate to the last degree with any amount of compute. And so on if the aggrieved pedestrian points at us and we say it wasn’t us, that thing that was always there ever present and all knowing knows and it forever knows what happened and can be interrogated. That’s God only a fool struggles to believe in. It’s also tautological that consciousness exists as a subset of this God (we’re it) and far from irrational to assume it’s a physical phenomenon imbued in creation generally of which we are nodes, literally an image thereof as observers of actors within the observable.
