Claude's "fallbacks" are a form of reward hacking. It increases the probability the code will pass one shot, by skipping any experimental work to pin down which solution is correct.

Experimentally letting our SEO guy operate Claude Code to govern part of a site. He likes it, but it constantly does insane things that you would expect a developer to push back on. Even the classic "secrets in a public SPA". (Did not ship.) Lovable has more safeties for common mental illness but it had other issues.

Give me your best Star Trek nitpicks. No reasonable criticisms or analysis, I'm talking real pedantic here.

Part of an editor’s job is spotting writers’ tics and mistakes. If you see GPTisms in the NYT, the editors have also abdicated.

Never deep clone a product if you can’t deep clone the business. You have no idea what they’re really about. Oh, they got a red button so you need a red button? Did you also copy the fact they’re a white label op meant to siphon data from their parent company’s competition?

The most surprising thing about brain slugging is the number of people who feel comfortable self identifying as replaced by AI. When you copy/paste from ChatGPT and send it out, it sends a clear message. "Whatever it is I'm doing is worth twenty dollars a month."

One of my favorite games was Sims 2 until one day I realized “I’m pretending to do things I could be doing if I weren’t playing Sims 2” and I never touched it again.

Modified Metcalfe’s Law: the value of a network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users, minus double the number of counterfeit users.

Would love to have a problem I could solve with a prompt.

AI vs. Metcalfe. As the probability a user is simulated approaches 1, the value of the network approaches the value of a simulation of that network. If a local, disconnected simulation isn’t valuable, you must ward off fakes. If that’s not possible, your network is cooked.

“I’m unable to read this, but I’m entirely sure you should publish it.”
The funniest thing about #arxivgate is that it’s going to drive everyone to use AIs to ensure their papers are in compliance because AIs are literally the only entity with the patience to read an entire paper.
