New ep! George and Alison are joined by Key Whiskey, host of the Hollyword podcast, to discuss this Lisa Edelstein-spiked episode, and opinions abound! 🌶️ Thankfully Key's cooler Aussie head prevailed. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

New episode! I'm talking to feature writer Peter Barnes, whose spec Lost Sun sold to MGM last summer. This was a really fun conversation that left me feeling grounded and optimistic. And also, amused? That pretty much sums up Peter's vibe. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
This weekend is the final run of @MeghanPleticha's live show, Murder at Winterberg Manor. Got my tickets for tomorrow night! onthestage.com/show/pleticha… Check out my delightful conversation with Meghan on episode 8 of Scriptcast Conversations.

New episode! Today I'm talking to Marque Franklin-Williams, a TV writer who's worked on Just Add Magic , Leverage: Redemption, and upcoming projects for Showtime, Lion's Gate, and Amazon. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas… #podcasts #screenwriting #screenwritingpodcasts #TVwriting
Any listeners catch @MeghanPleticha's comparison of sonnet structure and half our comedy structure? Kind of blew my mind. And I think she's on to something. English majors, feel free to jump in anytime. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
I can do it. Can you?
Take two. More evidence of how my husband is better at Twitter than me. 😂
My very talented husband:
Over the 7ish months that I've been releasing podcasts, a small number of people have reached out to ask if I'd read and/or produce their script for the show. I'm pretty sure all of them were men. Trying to decide what I think about that.

Should I be more like them and just politely send unsolicited queries all over town? Or are these guys wasting their time? I mean, in this case they *are* wasting their time because I never put out a call for submissions and have no intention to.

For what it's worth, they've all been polite. Not demanding of my time. But it's just something I would be extremely uncomfortable doing. Feels presumptuous.
Thank you for sharing this! Just want to add I'm listening to the most recent ep of @DivHiresPod and they're having a very relevant conversation re: dues paying. (looping in @DannyBaram)

As someone who could never find an “in” for an assistant or PA job and is honestly too old, I feel very seen and validated by this thread and replies.
THREAD: Just want to talk "going the assistant route" as a path to make it as a TV writer. I think many will attest that this is one of the best - if not the best - ways to actually create a clear cut path to being a working writer. And so ... (1/ )

As I'm looking to get back in the workforce, I'll be taking @MeghanPleticha's rock climbing analogy with me. It's not a ladder. It's more like climbing a rock face. Look around and see what footholds and handholds you can reach NOW. Great advice! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
What things are you good at, or proud of, that you've previously had trouble saying out loud? Let's practice. Here's mine: I'm a great writer. I can take notes like a champ. (Criticism, not meeting notes. But hell, I'm good at those too.) And yes, I think I'm funny.

Tagging you @CortneyJS because I see you trying to sneak by with a like.

A quote from episode 7 with TV comedy writer @MeghanPleticha - "You're probably funnier than you think...because I felt the same way and then I realized I was just living in a patriarchy." linktr.ee/theScriptcast

This resonated with me because I've recently begun examining my lifelong conditioning to undercut any of my own accomplishments or positive qualities. As women we're expected to strive for beauty, success, etc. and yet...

We're denied the ability to speak openly about that same beauty, success, etc. When I was a little girl, the worst thing you could be was a girl who was "pretty but knows it." And that conditioning really kicks in when you step into more male dominated fields. Like comedy.
