If I ran a uni (eg ANU) into the ground and I wanted everyone to think it wasn't my fault, I'd absolutely ask that the 'community' of my employees cut their own pay in order to 'save' their own jobs, even if it didn't work, just so that they felt like the damage was theirs to own

Re free school lunches in qld - absolutely yes. I work in education policy and have a note on my desk that I scribbled down in a meeting about canteens that says "maybe canteens are not the answer" - maybe we don't rely largely on women's unpaid labour (P&Cs) to sell food - -

Maybe, actually, all kids need to eat good food, and some of them don't get to, maybe we start with that premise and work from there, and maybe you'd come up with something like free school lunch being, actually, obvious - -

Too much of schooling is done because it was always done like that, and good policy requires paring back to the most basic parts - ('kids need food') and often you'd come up with something simple, affordable, and that, shockingly, meets the needs of children.

Anyway by complete coincidence, nice to see one of the dumbest corporate uni statement videos of all time hit the timeline ft that same uni leader. Glad they got nice lighting to tell students that no one cares about genocide. That will surely convince the protesters!
