Itās that time of year when I get a few questions about Liberty herbicide tolerance in our @DEKALB_Canada corn hybrids. If you planted an Orange bag (SmartStax) or a Yellow bag (SmartStaxPro) you are safe with Liberty.

Lots of discussion about planting corn into cool soils. I learned another example today, of how air temps will change quickly but soil temps stay steady. North Lambton County near the Lake @ 2pm-air temp 46.3F (8C). Soil temp at 2ā planting depth 55.6F (13C) @dekalbcanada

Doesnāt matter how many times I get ready for spring planting, itās still exciting to get my first corn plot of the season in the ground. Found some sand west of Glencoe. Temperature at planting depth was 12 C (55 F). šØš. @DEKALB_Canada

Undisturbed clay soil is 10 degrees (50 F) at noon. If the soil is fit, I say šØš. Even if itās fit and 7-8 degrees earlier in the morning itās fine to get started. We are heading towards slightly warmer temps and the soil wonāt cool down much over night @bayer4cropsCA

Quite a variation in stress tolerance between hybrids. These 3 hybrids located in Lambton County in a drier area. If you have a plot close by, stop in and peel back some husks to compare. ā¦@DEKALB_Canadaā©
