The many weird and wonderful things you find maintaining a register of crypto assets never ceases to amaze. Case in point: a completely empty whitepaper template submitted by DuckChain as part of their MiCA notification. Absolutely zero information included, not even a name. 🦆

One thing I noticed when updating the EU #Crypto Register this month was that the Cypriot regulator (CySEC) changed their two-letter country code for Greece from GR to EL.
You’re probably expecting me to make a comment about the political significance (Greece and Cyprus!).

But I don’t read it that way. My guess instead would be that they are trying to standardize with other EU member states which also tend to use EL. 🇬🇷

However it does show how ESMA’s current #MiCA database is effectively 26 sets of records stitched together. Proper standardization still feels a long way off. Small details like this continue to make it tricky for interested parties to track and interpret changes accurately.

But there were interesting things too - of special note is the authorisation of the first Swedish krona-backed EMT from @AllUnityStable. The range of currencies in regulated #stablecoin format continues to grow across Europe!

Friendly reminder that just offering advice on #crypto is also a regulated activity in the EU. This month, we added two companies to the EU Crypto Register (eucryptoregister.com) who recently received their #MiCA authorisations for this and only this.

@ScalableCapDACH and @validvent are now permitted to offer 'personalised recommendations to clients about crypto-assets or services'.
They are the first two companies to receive this authorisation on its own.

I reviewed hundreds of #crypto whitepapers when putting together the EU Crypto Register, and so did official agencies.
I love that fact that on some official government calendar is an appointment called 'Review Unstable Coin'. What a time to be in financial regulation.

- one of Spain’s largest banks receiving its CASP license
- the first Croatian MiCA license of any kind
- the first Estonian MiCA license of any kind
- the first Latvian EMT
