Years of building proxy software in-house in Rust and Go, going up against incumbents who've been at this much longer.
We won Proxyway's Newcomer of the Year 2026 🏆 Independent benchmark. #1 out of all tested providers for residential latency, mobile latency, and residential success rate on popular targets. All built in-house in Rust and Go. Measured against providers who have been at this a decade longer 📈 Read more: byteful.com/blog/byteful-win…

me realizing i have to run a company again now that a foreign government lobotomized my head of strategy, my financial forecaster, AND my entire customer support team
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Did we really need a 75″ 8K TV to monitor our network ops Grafana dashboards…maybe. Does it suspiciously line up with the start of the World Cup…definitely 😅

UK AI startups raised £8.2bn in the first six months of 2026. That beats last year's full-year record. In half the time. Five years ago the conversation was talent and companies leaking out of Britain. This week at London Tech Week it became obvious that's reversed. The capital came back. And it's staying 🇬🇧
From AI to quantum, the UK is where tech businesses start - and scale. 🇬🇧 At #LondonTechWeek, Minister for AI @KanishkaNarayan hears why: world-class talent, leading universities, and a pro-innovation approach to regulation.

I miss Succession so much I choose to pretend every movie with Jeremy Strong is just Kendall’s newest business venture
Jeremy Strong's voice as Mark Zuckerberg in ‘THE SOCIAL NETWORK’ sequel. “I’m not 2 years out of a dorm room anymore Charlie!”

New: Steve Reed has just overruled Slough Council to approve the UK's largest data centre site near Heathrow. The council had initially blocked it because of concerns about the Green Belt, so MHCLG called it in. The site has been designated as critical national infrastructure. assets.publishing.service.go…

Don't make me say it.
Cursor has just announced that London is going to be the location for its new European HQ. It's hiring 200 roles in the city to cope with the growing demand for its product. Every day another great company doubles on the city. WE LOVE TO SEE IT. Welcome @mntruell @ArVID220u

Robots.txt is 32 years old, has no legal authority, and runs on voluntary compliance. That's the beauty of it. A courtesy, not a wall. It still works, but it can't carry consent, copyright, infrastructure protection and crawler identity alone. What it can't do is stop the pattern of the biggest platforms using it as a wall against everyone else while quietly licensing the same data themselves. The open internet only works if it stays open both ways.

We're doubling compute access for the UK's most ambitious AI startups. The response since launch has been remarkable. In just three months, we have received more than 200 applications requesting over 67 million GPU hours. Founders here are building frontier AI models, scientific discovery platforms, next-generation compute infrastructure, cybersecurity technologies, drug discovery tools, and other innovations with the potential to shape the next decade of economic growth and national capability. If Britain wants to be an AI maker, not an AI taker, we need to back our most promising startups with the compute they need to build at the frontier. Today's announcement at @LDNTechWeek does exactly that.

It's easy to become "just a prompter" with AI. Output without the fundamentals underneath. What we've found at @Byteful: the people who actually understand what they're doing get amplified the most by these tools. Higher resolution into a problem. More ways to solve it. So we give the team an unlimited books budget. No approval needed. They use it a lot. Kaizen.

New scraping rules for the biggest scraper in town 👀 The @CMAgovUK just made publishers able to opt out of @Google's AI features while staying indexed in normal search. A world first. 9 months for Google to implement. Before this, opting out of AI effectively meant losing your search ranking too. That's no longer the case.

410ms global residential latency in Proxyway's 2026 report ⚡ We were at 690ms in September. ~40% faster in 6 months. Built proxy software in-house from the ground up in Rust and Go. The multi-year bet is starting to pay off 🛠

The kind of details I notice every time I'm in the dashboard. Small but they add up fast.
Two small dashboard details that save more time than they should⚡ Smart file naming: exports are named based on your selection. No more "list (3).csv" Smartpath onboarding: first time using it? The dashboard explains what it does right there. Video, docs, one click.

Proxyway 2026 report is out 🎉 We over-index on engineering vs sales/marketing. Still probably a mistake. But the results: 🥇 Fastest Residential pool, global ( 100ms) 🥇 Best Residential success on Google, Amazon, IG 🥇 Fastest Mobile global pool proxyway.com/research/proxy-…

Wisdom Wednesday returns 🧙‍♂️ This week the brilliant Max Madden walked us through Golang performance profiling. Tracing, flamegraphs, pprof. Turns out the fastest way to improve a residential proxy network is not always a big rewrite. Sometimes it is finding the tiny bottleneck that shows up billions of times. That is where the real wins hide.

You probably missed the most important thing from Google I/O last week. Not Gemini 3.5. WebMCP. > Sites expose backend APIs directly to agents via .well-known/mcp > Agents stop reading the DOM and talk to the backend instead > @Google ships it, @AnthropicAI built the protocol @sundarpichai called it the "agentic Gemini era." WebMCP is what that actually looks like.
The WebMCP API will enter origin trial starting in Chrome 149 → goo.gle/4u57Wlf It's a proposed web standard that lets you expose structured tools, like JS functions and HTML forms, to browser-based agents, enabling them to know exactly how and where to interact with your site. #GoogleIO

Glad to see all engineering time at @byteful is paying off in product experience🔥 > Ultra Low latency > Great geographic coverage > Smartpath to reduce unnecessary data spend Big thanks to @datawookie for the detailed review: datawookie.dev/blog/2026-05-…
