What a challenging year we have all had! Today is the last official day of year 1 and your new adventure will start in September! For now enjoy the weather, stay safe and have lots of fun! Miss Smart and the year 1 team are so very proud of you all! 😃

In our English lesson today we were telling the story of Goldilocks the Three Bears.

It was lovely to welcome everyone back to school today. I hope you all had a lovely half term. In our Maths lesson today we learnt how to identify which is left and which is right. We used the lyrics to a song to help us.

This half terms PSHE topic is "Changing Me". Please could I ask for parents to email me a photo of your child from when they were a baby and a recent photo. Thank you in advance.

Reminder: school is closed on Monday for an inset day. I hope you have all had a lovely break and I will see you Tuesday.
On Friday, we are hoping to go near our forest school area to find a variety of trees. All year 1 will need a pair of wellies for this. #riskassessmentfirst!

Year 1 really enjoyed being bossy this morning when telling me how to make a jam sandwich! We discovered the importance of being accurate with our language and the importance of putting instructions in order.

In science we have been learning to identify and name some garden plants. We planted seeds in our outside area using gardening tools.

Y1 are learning about plants in science. Last Friday, we identified and named common wild plants by going on a wild plant hunt.

We started a new topic in Maths today, we are beginning to look at fractions. The children completed practical activities of halving shapes and then they continued their learning by halving some of their lunch!

Tomorrow we start our new maths unit, fractions. We will be learning to find half of a shape and then to make a whole using two halves.

For mental health week we discussed feelings and how we manage those that don’t make us smile. #time #childrensmentalhealth #year1

In science today we have started our new topic of plants. We explored a variety of different plants and labelled our own pictures. We ran out of time to plant our seeds so we will be doing that for our family meeting at 8.50am. #family #science #plants

We had number fun in Year 1 today showing our support for the NSPCC. We played a game called guess the number. The children really enjoyed working in teams and listening to the clues. @NSPCC @maths #numbers #teamwork
