"This is the provision that's in the legislation. This is the provision that can be used." The debate over the Petition of Concern is back at Stormont. With the DUP seeking support over amendments to the Justice Bill, questions are being asked about whether the mechanism should only be used for constitutional issues—or whenever parties believe it's necessary. #Stormont #JusticeBill #NorthernIrelandPolitics @dmcbfs | @timcairns

This looks fairly amazing! Come on Canada! 🇨🇦 The nerves are real in our house! It’s poutine for dinner!
Canada’s March to the Match continues to work its way through the Toronto streets toward the stadiums. Beautiful scenes as fans chant and cheer and high five fans who are lining the streets. It’s going to be electric inside the stadium today.

Thanks to Paul for taking this forward. These platforms have been responsible for a catalogue of misery and building/sustaining the infrastructure of human trafficking. This is an essential first step in ending pimping websites.
Part of my contribution at consideration stage of the Justice bill when I address my amendment on the prohibition of advertising for sexual services. This received the support of the assembly and is now contained within the Justice bill.

"That does not happen in Westminster. That does not happen in Holyrood. That does not happen in the Senedd. That does not happen in the Dáil." In this week's episode Tim argues that Northern Ireland has a deeper problem than political disagreement over the Good Jobs Bill. "I think we've got a problem in our civil service. I think we've got a problem with the Legislative Council." #Stormont #NorthernIrelandPolitics #GoodJobsBill @dmcbfs | @timcairns

Frankly this is appalling, but also a glimpse behind the curtain of a “new Ireland.” Noted

Incredible cowardice from The Irish Times. A masterclass in selective bigotry, happy to punch down at a community that has *checks notes* been here for 400 years. Remind me again how you'd view unionists in a United Ireland?

Belfast knife attack suspect Hadi Alodid was granted asylum under a fast-track application scheme introduced by two of Nigel Farage's senior colleagues. It meant he'd only to complete a Home Office questionnaire rather than attend a face-to-face interview. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/…

This may be the least excited for a World Cup I’ve ever been. This 48 team thing is a nonsense.

A really ominous sign about the capabilities of the PSNI, whose Chief Constable has for years been begging Stormont to properly fund it: Just hours after serious racist violence broke out, already the PSNI can't cope and is requesting mutual aid support from GB police forces.

It’s worth noting that under the imminent plans proposed by Alliance, SDLP & Sinn Fein to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 14, if a child one day below 14 burnt a house down the PSNI would not even be able to investigate them, as they would have not committed a crime.

Pat Sheehan is accusing the Assembly Speaker of failing to act impartially. "Independence doesn't mean unaccountability," he says, arguing that amendments rejected by the Speaker on issues including school uniforms and Mother and Baby Institutions legislation were largely those opposed by the DUP. "This was the first time a Speaker had rejected amendments from a committee." Full episode available now on Spotify. #UKPolitics #SinnFéin #DUP @dmcbfs | @timcairns

"He's three people away from uniting that MLA team." Tim Cairns says John Burrows could achieve something unionist leaders have struggled to do for decades, unite his party behind a single direction.
