Mike Posner is a Grammy-nominated artist, adventurer and podcaster. If you've heard of him before it's most likely because of his Walk Across America or his #1 hit "I Took a Pill in Ibiza." Posner recently gave his first TED talk, titled "5 Lessons on Happiness". It's one of the most touching and impactful TED talks I've ever watched. These are his 5 Lessons: 1. Not all crazy ideas are great, but all great ideas are crazy. 2. Step one is to take one step. 3. Reasons are excuses in disguise. 4. True happiness comes from growth. 5. Don't wait. The summary doesn't make it justice though, so go watch the talk yourself: youtube.com/watch?v=8qojNkkv…

THE BEST WAY TO READ: Sit in front of your bookshelf and let your eyes wander. Take the book that catches your attention off the shelf. Open the table of contents, read the chapter names. Go to the chapter that appeals to you the most or that is interesting at the moment. Skim the pages and dip into passages that interest you. As soon as you no longer feel like continuing reading, skip to another paragraph, another chapter or put the book back on the shelf and pick up the next one. Reading doesn't always have to be straightforward. It doesn't always have to be cover to cover. Monotonous. Tedious. Boring. Instead, it can be exciting and wild. Two sentences here, a paragraph there. 5 minutes of history, then 12 minutes of health and then 7 minutes of philosophy. Varied. Exciting. Diverse.

5 quick tips for posture and setting when reading 📖👇🏼 1️⃣ Sit straight and not slumped over. Bad posture compresses your diaphragm, which makes you tired. 🥱 2️⃣ Don’t put the book flat on the table. Ideally, hold it at a 90-degree angle to your eyes. That makes it easier to read and your eyes won’t get tired. 👀 3️⃣ If possible hold the book at eye level, so you don’t have to look down the entire time, which might cause neck pain. 💥 4️⃣ Have good lighting. Daylight is the best, but other lights are good too. Just make sure they’re bright enough so you’re not damaging your eyes. ☀️ 5️⃣ If you read for learning or personal growth, don’t read in bed or lying on your couch. It puts you in a relaxed state, but you want to be somewhat energetic. Instead, sit at a desk or try standing or walking. 🚶🏻‍♂️ Do you make sure you have the right posture when reading? 🤔

Non-Fiction books aren't there to be read once and forgotten. They're there to be used as a tool to build a new habit, change a mindset, or learn a new skill. They should be re-read, highlighted, dog-eared, and put into action.

Today's morning reading: 20 Pages of Range by David Epstein. Here's my favorite highlight of today: "The expression 'young and foolish,' he wrote, describes the tendency of young adults to gravitate to risky jobs, but it is not foolish at all. It is ideal. They have less experience than older workers, and so the first avenues they should try are those with high risk and reward, and that have high informational value." What are you reading today?

I don't know what freaking side of X I'm on, but I don't like it. 80% of what I see falls into these categories: - < 1000 Follower Accounts teaching how to grow a following 🤡 - Digital writers writing about digital writing 💀 - People telling you what the "secret" is (PS: It's what they're trying to sell you)🤫 - "Make Money Online"-Coaches who are making all their money by teaching you how to make money online, so you can teach other people how to make money online. 🙃 - People who have written 10 ChatGPT prompts and now claim they are AI experts. 🥸 Can you please help me out of here and give me some solid account recommendations, that provide real value? Much appreciated!

HONEST THOUGHTS: First off, I love Andy and his content! Most of what he's covering in the book, you can get for free on his podcast. (And he's the first one to tell you that) Also, 80% of the book is about 75 Hard and the Live Hard program, which is by far the best free mental toughness program out there. So, if you're not interested in doing the program, you shouldn't get this book! If you want to become mentally tough and are willing to go through some hard shit, then this book is the right one for you. However, the actual benefit comes from doing the program and you don't need to read the book for that.
