Alright, I'm only gonna say this only one time. There is no amount of general advice a large artist can give you that'll help you grow. You wanna know why? There is no "definitive guide to success" for creatives because there will never be a one-size-fits-all approach or silver bullet to growing on ANY social media platform. That's the nature of the beast, and it will always be this way. There is no evergreen advice that any artist can simply read, apply, and get results. The reason why, "Just draw for yourself" is the only advice that can realistically be given that is unchanging, is because that's the only path to actually enjoying what you're doing and protecting your sanity and mental as a creative. If you cannot do this thing first, everything else is frankly irrelevant because it will NOT make you happy. AND TRUST ME ON THIS, you will never be happy with the amount of followers, likes, or interactions you get, and you will forever chase a high that does not last if that is a primary motivator in creating anything. The goalposts are basically ever shifting away from you. Outside of mentoring your specific art to cater to an audience of some kind, there is nothing that can be said to you that will grow your account. No trend will be everlasting, no algorithm will be "favorable" forever, and you cannot make people notice your work. You will become unhappy and disillusioned with the whole process if you retain this mentality, that I can guarantee you. This has nothing to do with saying not having numbers is unimportant, or you should not be disappointed with having zero traction. This has everything to do with accepting the reality of the platform, and that all generalized advice is ephemeral in this space when it comes to growing as an artist. Sharing your art is important, it's okay to want attention and numbers, and it's fine to want to do this for financial reasons. These are all valid things to say and feel. What is also valid is that every large artist has already exhumed every last piece of generalized advice long ago and people STILL ask what they should do. "Do trends", "Draw and post frequently", "Practice often", "Draw fanart". This is not new, but this is the best anyone is gonna get. Because there is a very real chance you do all this and still don't get anywhere. Lastly, if your art is in fact good enough and you want to do this professionally as a career, don't ask artists what to do. Ask people in marketing, or ask people who specialize in business. Being good at art has no real correlation with knowing how to sell yourself or how to navigate online platforms professionally as a creative.
