As of May 23 (Sat), the special exhibition "Beautiful Figures," which had been on view at Kaikai Kiki Gallery for approximately one month, has come to a close. Bringing together works by 12 artists, the exhibition featured a diverse range of generations and artistic expressions, including a newly released collaborative print by mebae and Takashi Murakami; a large-scale painting and figure works by Mr., who is currently holding a solo exhibition in Fukuoka; a work by Kuru Yumeno, whom our gallery has recently begun introducing; as well as rare early works by AYA TAKANO and MADSAKI. Kaikai Kiki Gallery is currently presenting the group exhibition "Beautiful Figures". In one section of the gallery, newly created collaborative prints by mebae and Takashi Murakami are on view. The first collaboration prints between mebae and Takashi Murakami were created approximately four years ago, in 2022. This latest series serves as a continuation of that collaboration, introducing the 2026 edition of the prints. The works are available in three variations, each featuring different hair colors, skin tones, and clothing colors. These striking pieces combine mebae’s signature girl motifs with lavish backgrounds filled with Takashi Murakami’s iconic flowers. The exhibition will run through May 23 (Sat). 【Event Report】 In conjunction with “Mr. Solo Exhibition: We’ll Meet Again”, currently on view at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, a special event was held at Artist Cafe Fukuoka on Saturday, May 16. During the event, participants created life-size cardboard cutouts and paper masks of Mr. With scissors and box cutters in hand, each person brought their own “look-alike of Mr.” to life. After the workshop, accompanied by a performance by Mr. himself dressed in a sailor-style school uniform, participants wandered around the area surrounding the Fukuoka Art Museum together with countless “Mr.” figures. The sudden appearance of these many Mr. cutouts throughout the park landscape created a humorous yet strangely captivating scene. Participants were also invited to freely take photos and join the performance, transforming the entire venue into an extension of Mr.’s artistic world. Thank you very much to everyone who joined us. — Today, from 2PM to 5PM, a collaborative painting session featuring participants and Mr. will take place at Artist Cafe Fukuoka.
