20 March 2025 - Dr. Gaston Djihinto, the Secretary-General of the FCWC, led a delegation from the FCWC and TMT in a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of Ghana’s Fisheries Commission, Prof. Benjamin Campion, at the Fisheries Commission Headquarters in Accra, Ghana. This visit followed an earlier meeting in which Executive Director Campion had visited the FCWC Secretariat shortly after assuming his position. During the meeting, they discussed preparations for upcoming monitoring, control, and surveillance (MCS) activities, as well as the integration of Ghana’s Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) with the FCWC Regional MCS Centre.

The 15th Advisory and Coordinating Committee (ACC) Meeting report was adopted including recommendations to establish the Regional Record of Authorized Fishing Vessels (RRAFV) and support the sustainability of the FCWC Regional MCS Centre; sustain efforts to implement regional fisheries management measures, including closed seasons; to support sustainable aquaculture development across the FCWC region through @FAOfish, @AfDB_Group, @jica_direct_en and others; and to establish regional scientific working groups to undertake further scientific studies on closed seasons.

The Ministerial Session of the 15th Conference of Ministers has just ended at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, Liberia held under the auspices of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA). The President of Liberia, H. E. Joseph Boakai, graced the occasion to deliver the keynote address and declare the meeting open.
