"The Tennessee Jacket," a striking garment now on display in "Tennessee Voices," was part of a series created by Manuel Cuevas to honor each of the fifty states. It features symbols associated with Tennessee, and was made during the state’s bicentennial year in 1996.

Manuel Cuevas was born in 1933 in Michoacán, Mexico. At Nudie Cohn’s establishment in Hollywood, he was the lead tailor, creating signature styles like Elvis’ jumpsuits and Johnny Cash’s black suits. In 1988, he moved to Nashville, where he has continued to create clothing.

Last week, Flag Sojourn made a meaningful stop in Tennessee. 🇺🇸 On May 27, the flag was received at the Tennessee Air National Guard’s Berry Field in Nashville by the Tennessee Department of Military, Tennessee America 250 staff and Tennessee State Museum staff.
