There are very few people I’d do this for. But it seems I’m on the train to London to join a very long overnight queue with my dear old Mum. Here comes a rolling thread about #TheQueue

There can be confusion about being “evidence-informed”. This diagram shows the importance of evidence from research alongside teacher expertise, experience & context - not dismissing it. I certainly embrace being an evidence-informed teacher & leader as do many others I know!

Why should footballers stay out of politics, but politicians not stay out of football?
We are all proud of our England team, who have had the support of the whole country over recent weeks, but please focus of football, not politics. If you win for England, you win for everyone! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

You know that Big Six ESL Premier League fine - how about using that money to buy a defibrillator for every grassroots club, and to be housed at every grassroots playing field?

The weird impulse of UK news journalists to go maximum idiomatic when interviewing foreign guests makes blood come out of my ears. “Cusp”??? You twat. Translate cusp into ANY other language.

This is hard to take and a great loss. But Mike Long's work and ideas will be with us for a very long time. I'm no expert, and I only knew Mike personally in the last two or three years, but here are just a few of the many key things he did. Abro hilo👇
Mike Long was a fantastic person, an incredible scholar, and a good friend and supporter of SLB. We were so lucky to get to work with him and we will miss him greatly. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends right now.

If you are suddenly facing Christmas alone, I have tips. I LOVE Christmas alone so get on board. Food: What would you ideally like to eat if no-one could limit you or judge you? Nothing but pigs in blankets? Just cake? Pot Noodle? Get that! I’m having cheese and crackers.

From the brains that brought you "more COVID cases are because of more COVID tests".
STOP THE COUNT!
Schrödinger’s trade negotiations, in which WTO terms are both good and bad. Good news about the soy sauce though 🤦‍♂️
To clarify: thanks to the UK-Japan trade deal, soya sauce will be cheaper than it otherwise would be under WTO terms, on which we would be trading with Japan from 1 Jan if we had not secured the UK-Japan trade deal.
I can’t like this enough.
This remains in my head rent free
