Ceddanne Rafaela of the Red Sox has had a habit of having a cold bat through Memorial Day and after the All-Star Break, but a hot one in between. In the first part of this season, he broke that pattern. What will happen the rest of the way?

The Red Sox gave Caleb Durbin a few days off around Memorial Day weekend to work on his hitting, pressure-free. It pretty clearly paid off. #RedSox

Another lousy trade idea from Patrick McAvoy of SI. Why trade for a 2nd baseman that mashes lefties (150 wRC last year, although 85 wRC this year), when you'll have one who is even better at it returning from injury this month (Romy Gonzalez, 162 wRC last year)? si.com/mlb/red-sox/onsi/red-…

The Boston Red Sox have scored 5 or more runs: 7 times in the last 11 games 0 times in the previous 11 games. Their record is 5-6 in both stretches of games.

OPS allowed by Greg Weissert of the Red Sox in 2026: In 11 appearances with no inherited runners: .564 In 13 appearances with inherited runners: 1.012 Greg Weissert should not be brought into games with runners on base.

Jarren Duran was chasing outside the zone at the highest rate of his career, and the results showed it. Then this past series he stopped. He got 4 walks in the span of 6 plate appearances. In the next 8 at bats he got a double, a triple, and two home runs. It's connected.

THE BOSTON RED SOX JUST SWEPT A BASEBALL SERIES ON THE ROAD. DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?!?? Jarren Duran gets all the ketchup. Yum yum yum. He eats the haters with a side of ketchup for breakfast every morning. Yum yum yum.

Did Nick Sogard get hit intentionally by Marcelo Mayer's batted ball in the 4th inning tonight? It wouldn't have been an easy double play, but it was a possible one. Though it could have been a hit. Nah, I think not intentional, he couldn't have known it would improve the result.

Actually more encouraging that Jarren Duran's home run and double last night were his two walks. His biggest problem this season has been a career-high chase rate. Fix that, and he'll get more pitches that are good to hit, and his career-high popup rate should come down.

Willson Contreras' power stroke was the difference maker in the last two Red Sox wins (much like Kyle Schwarber's was for the Phillies when they visited Boston last week).

Nick Sogard doing bunting right. He's a ballplayer. Red Sox, take a bunting lesson from him, because there's too much bad bunting on this team.

Red Sox prediction: from mid June to mid July the Red Sox will get much better offensive production from 3B, SS, 2B, LF, and DH than they have been to this point (through May 17) this season. The primary players: 3B Durbin SS Mayer 2B Gonzalez LF/DH Duran LF/DH Anthony

With all 5 weak spots in their lineup doing better, they'll score a lot more runs, and win a lot more games.

For reference, here's their production by position so far.

BREAKING: The Trump DOJ is dropping federal criminal fraud charges against an Indian billionaire. The reason: He hired one of Trump’s personal lawyers. Then promised to invest $10 billion in America. The same DOJ that indicted James Comey twice over seashells. One standard for the connected. Another for everyone else.

Empathy from Democrats for Latinos turned California from Red to Blue after Republicans targeted them with hateful policies. A similar empathy now can have a similar effect nationwide. #immigration youtube.com/shorts/eg7imcsx-…

We're about 1/4 of the way through the season. There has been a lot of underperforming on the Red Sox so far, how have the players been trending? Players with the most plate appearances are at the top of this chart. This data is from Fangraphs. My comments in the comments ...

Some may be surprised by Roman Anthony's low defensive numbers, but that may just be who he is. If the Red Sox ever move Yoshida, Anthony may be seeing a lot of time at DH. But Yoshida will need to be more consistently good at the plate if the Sox ever hope to trade him.

Kiner-Falefa is just here for defense. No other value there. They can't demote him. I wouldn't be surprised if he was traded or outright released before the season is over, as his roster spot might be better filled with other options within the organization.
