Pencil just crossed 1M downloads on Cursor Extensions marketplace. With Composer 2.5, it's a killer AI design combo. Just flies. Designs a full website for desktop and mobile sub-minute. Fully editable on canvas inside Cursor. Video at 1x speed.

Composer 2.5 (fast) vs Opus 4.7 (medium effort). Composer is about twice as fast in this case, sometimes even faster. Quality comparable in this case.

Is AI is making you a better author of your design work? @tomkrcha paused with that question. He was giving it some serious thought. He's been thinking about how to improve design work for decades: - Was the youngest Adobe Flash evangelist - Created Adobe XD - Founded @pencildev His thesis follows an emerging bet many design tool builders are making right now: AI agents will increasingly share the canvas with humans. We dig deep into what the future of design work might look like, and how he's building for it. Don't miss this one.

One of the interesting use cases with ChatGPT Images 2 is that it can generate high-resolution logos that can be easily vectorized/traced into SVGs with reasonable quality.

Also, shaders directly on vectors are so much fun.

Introducing Code on Canvas in @pencildev AI design tool for Claude and Codex. Design ❤️ Code are officially in a relationship, opening new ways to create on canvas. Ask agent to generate custom design tools inside Pencil on the fly, create interactive components, generative art and more, but still keep the full manual design control. This is just the beginning. Let us know what you think. And let's take it to the next level together. Download the new Pencil update today.

Another example, this tool fits as many rectangles, squares or circles into the bounding box with predefined padding as possible. This tool was create in couple minutes by Opus. It'd be so much pain to replicate all of these objects manually and maintain it. Design is becoming modular and you can essentially create the right toolset for your job on the spot.

This is an on-the-fly generated chart tool, a custom one, you probably want slightly different charts, bespoke charts, none of tools would be perfect for your design, just ask the agent to tweak it how you want it, past custom data, or ask agent to fill it with custom data.

Request for product: an AI agent that talks to a customer support on my behalf and never gives up until the mission is accomplished even if it would take days.

Did we get a chance to tell you about Mesh Gradients in Pencil.dev yet. Yeah, they are really cool. Try them out. Go to fill -> mesh gradient. Or ask agent to generate one for you to get started.

I've been using @pencildev for all of my design work and honestly, it's wild... it's like Figma and Cursor had a baby. You type what you want, AI agents build the design and you get to watch them work in real time. What I love: - Component-based designing - Agent swarms that design in parallel - Full Figma-style controls when you want them - Free to download — just use your existing OpenAI/Anthropic subscription I use it for all my AI design work now. Not affiliated, just genuinely impressed. I'm getting the founder @tomkrcha on for a podcast recording soon. What questions should I ask him?

Spent an hour with pencil.dev and I'm sold. If you're an engineer who has strong design opinions but zero design skills (ie. me), this is your tool. Free, runs on all platforms, uses your own claude sub with no setup, and the built-in prompts actually work great.
