So I’m starting a Substack. In these fraught times, we need a trustworthy source of reliable information, and my Substack will definitely not be it. I don’t even really know what “fraught” means. But I hope you will be amused. rayadverb.substack.com/

« I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. »

Holy sh*t. This new Kamala Harris ad, which will air on Fox ahead of the debate, will mess with Donald Trump as it uses the words of Trump’s own cabinet & inner circle to show how he is unfit & unable to serve. This is so good. Watch & share it below.

On September 23, 1988, Ernest and Anneke Robinson welcomed the birth of their son, Matthew Stanford Robinson. Matthew was born with severe disabilities. Due to a lack of oxygen, he was blind and paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors said Matthew would only live for a few hours, but somehow, Matthew lived to be 10-and-a-half years old. When it came time for Matthew to rest in 1999, Ernest decided his gravestone should be beautiful and unique, depicting Matthew in his truest form and signify hope rather than grief.

I had the honor of helping Rachel Swarns with her book documenting the coldblooded sale of 300 men women and children to finance Georgetown College. It’s gratifying to see her get recognition in the NYT. nytimes.com/2023/06/28/books…

So we decided to lay out a ridiculous amount of money for premium seats on British Air only to discover it would be $380 more if we actually wanted seat assignments, and if we didn’t pay it, there was a 5-10% chance we would get to the airport and find we had no seats at all.

Includes my cover stories on Joshua Bell, children dying in hot cars, torture of dogs,The Great Zucchini. Fabulous, daring, pieces by other writers, edited by brilliant editors like Tom the Butcher, Richard Leiby, David Rowell. The Post is protecting you from this sort of crap.

Prince Harry said something really insightful about how psychedelics helped him overcome depression. In fact I believe it’s the key to their healing power. “They didn’t simply allow me to escape reality for a while, they let me redefine reality.”

The advertising department of the Miami Herald once asked the paper's Sunday magazine editor, @geneweingarten ,if he would do a special issue on swimming pools. Yes, he said, but the main story would be about children who had drowned in pools. wapo.st/3jemBLm

(Part 1 0f 4) Starting about the first of the year, I begin The Gene Pool, a substack version of my chat, including a rebranded continuation of the unwisely assassinated Style Invitational humor contest. That will be run by the Empress, Pat Myers, and me. (more)
