With the presumed positive human case of highly pathogenic avian influenza - HPAI A(H5N1) case resulting person to dairy animal exposure in Texas (see CDC report from April 1 at:
cdc.gov/media/releases/2024/…) we are releasing a series of six English and Spanish language educational videos aimed at protecting workers from viral and bacterial pathogens.

These videos are now hosted at Michigan State's Top Milk website - see:
@topmilk. The videos were initially created through multi-disciplinary efforts (agriculture, dairy science, medicine, public health, engineering) as part of a USDA project aimed at reducing exposure to pathogens with a particular focus on bacteria, though the practices are extremely pertinent to any viral or bacterial disease. The work was done at the University of Wisconsin's Center for Agricultural Safety and Health and the videos have been evaluated to meet the needs of front-line workers in the dairy industry and promote best practices for health including the use of PPE, personal hygiene, handwashing, basic biosecurity practices, clothing selection and laundering, and other stewardship practices. More individual links to the video series will be posted tomorrow.
