31 years ago today, on January 14, 1993, Minnesota’s own Ann Bancroft and the American Women’s Expedition made history as the first all-woman team to reach the South Pole after 67 days and 660 miles of skiing.

Born in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, Ann Bancroft is the first woman to cross the ice to both the North and South Poles. Her achievements earned her a spot in the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1995 and made her a true Minnesota trailblazer. 💙
