State Champions! What a team effort. So proud of all the athletes and coaches! They have won a fourth OHSAA Title for Avon this year. That ties a state record for most titles in a school year 🏆🏆🏆🏆

This weekend showcased everything Amherst Track & Field is about: hard work, teamwork, resilience, and excellence.
From our pole vaulters earning medals to record-breaking relay performances, our athletes represented Amherst with pride on Ohio’s biggest stage. The boys’ 4x200 rewrote the record books with a school record, Lorain County record, and Division II State Meet record, while the boys’ 4x400 closed the weekend with a 3rd-place finish and another school record.
Most importantly, our athletes competed with heart, character, and determination.
Thank you to our families, coaches, sponsors, and the entire Amherst community for your incredible support throughout the season!
Success breeds success, and the future of Amherst Track & Field has never been brighter.

🥉🚨SCHOOL RECORD AND STATE MEDALISTS ALERT! 🥉🚨
The Amherst boys 4x400 relay team closed out the 2026 OHSAA State Track & Field Championships with an outstanding 3rd-place finish and a school-record time of 3:18.11!
Congratulations to Julius Donald, Ethan Wilhelms, Carter Boone, and Ben Thompson for earning a spot on the state podium and finishing among Ohio’s best.

After running a blistering 1:25.98 in yesterday’s prelims, our boys’ 4x200 relay team rewrote the record books.
Unfortunately, a dropped baton in today’s final ended their championship bid. But it cannot erase what this group accomplished. Carter Boone, Julius Donald, Gaige Patton, and Ben Thompson put together one of the greatest relay seasons in school history and showed the entire state what Amherst Track & Field is capable of.
With three of the four relay members returning next season, the future remains incredibly bright for the Comets.
Keep your heads high, gentlemen. We are proud of you. GO COMETS!!

🏃🏃♀️#OHSAA TRACK AND FIELD SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to severe weather, we are making the following modifications to the schedule for the remainder of the OHSAA Jesse Owens State Championships:
The remaining Division 2 running events, with the exception of the 3200, are postponed and will be contested on Sunday beginning at 1 PM and following the existing time schedule. The running events that have not yet completed preliminaries, starting with the Boys 400, will be reseeded as timed finals per NFHS regulations.
Start time for the events that are still planned for this evening will be determined later, as weather conditions allow, but will not resume before 7:45 PM. The Division 2 3200 will be the first event competed when the meet resumes this evening. The seated events and the Division 3 finals will still be contested this evening.
Group H field events are being rescheduled for Sunday at 8:30 AM with check-in scheduled for 7:30 AM. Group I and J will proceed on a rolling schedule following the completion of the preceding field events. Field event participants that were already scheduled for Sunday should still report at the previously scheduled time.
D1 running events are planned to take place as scheduled tomorrow.

Congratulations to Camden Simo and Cole Lugar on outstanding seasons representing Amherst at the OHSAA Division II State Championships!
Cam finished 13th in the state in the discus with a throw of 153’3”, while Cole earned his spot among Ohio’s best vaulters after a tremendous season that included a Regional Championship.
Making it to Columbus is an incredible accomplishment, and both athletes have much to be proud of. Thank you both for your dedication and commitment to Comet Track & Field! GO COMETS!!
