The RAVE trial is a major NIHR-funded randomised trial looking at an important question in endovascular lower limb revascularisation: Is intravascular lithotripsy superior to plain angioplasty or other vessel preparation methods? In this short video, Thanos Saratzis, CI of the RAVE trial, explains who may be suitable for the study and how sites can get involved. One of the key messages is that RAVE is designed to be pragmatic and effectiveness-driven. That means patients may be considered if they are undergoing endovascular lower limb revascularisation and the clinician or MDT feels IVL could be used as part of their treatment. The trial is also NIHR portfolio supported, with recruitment due to commence in late 2026. Costs for devices used within the trial are covered through the NHS/NIHR, and follow-up is aligned with usual NHS practice. For teams interested in opening RAVE at their site, please get in touch: ravetrial@leicester.ac.uk  You can also contact Thanos directly at: as875@leicester.ac.uk  A valuable opportunity to contribute to national research that could help shape future patient care in peripheral vascular disease.  #BSIR #InterventionalRadiology #RAVETrial #VascularIntervention #ClinicalResearch #NIHR #Endovascular #PeripheralVascularDisease   youtube.com/shorts/6HfGARNDk…

One week to go until the BSIR Registrar Study Day 2026. Registrations are still open for the BSIR Registrar Study Day, taking place virtually via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 11th June, 09:00 to 17:00. Following the success of last year’s event, which welcomed over 70 delegates, this year’s programme will focus on non-vascular and oncological interventions, with content designed for ST4 to ST6 trainees and early-career consultants. The day will complement the EBIR curriculum and cover areas where trainees may have limited exposure, including: → complex biliary interventions → urinary and GI interventions → oncological ablation and embolisation → vertebral interventions → preparation for consultant posts All sessions will be delivered by an experienced faculty using a case-based teaching format throughout. Book your place via the BSIR website: tinyurl.com/385x49w7  #BSIR #BSIRTrainees #InterventionalRadiology #IRad #RadiologyTraining #MedicalEducation #EBIR #RegistrarStudyDay

Innovation and Industry meets IR Education!  Research shows that while many radiology trainees want exposure to the medical device industry, geographical and logistical barriers often stand in the way. We are changing that. The BSIR Industry Scholarship is a new, fully funded programme designed to foster early-stage engagement between radiology trainees and industry leaders without taking time out of training.  The Programme Includes: ✅ Comprehensive online learning: Modules covering the full medical device lifecycle, from R&D and regulatory affairs to commercial strategy and entrepreneurship.  ✅ Immersive experience: Fully funded corporate sponsor visits and manufacturing site tours across Europe. ✅ Career growth: Mentorship to build professional networks and understand the healthcare-industry ecosystem. This is your chance to gain a fully funded executive education on how industry shapes the devices we use everyday and empower you to become a future leader in the field whilst minimising time commitments to ensure your clinical training is not affected.  📍 Eligibility: Open to radiology trainees at all levels or post-CCT fellows.  👇 Apply here: bsir.org/society/careers-in-… #InterventionalRadiology #BSIR #MedTech #CareerDevelopment #NHS #Radiology #Innovation
