You don’t have to be a paramedic to save a life.
You can get involved this #Shocktober by:
❤️ Learning or refreshing your CPR skills
❤️ Registering as a @GoodSamApp Responder
❤️ Learning how to use an AED and know where your local AED is located

What an amazing way to end the conference. Stephen got to meet the amazing road-side team involved in his resuscitation that we open the day with. More than a few tears, I am sure.
Brilliant work by the @Vicresus conference team for #vicresus 2023.
Tracy Busse, author, is discussing her story and her book “Calm Through Chaos”.
Family history may not mean all family members have the same cardiac condition. #vicresus
Jo Nevill, nurse, and Tracy Busse, survivor, are discussing Cardiac Rehabilitation and Beyond - recovering from a cardiac arrest. They are discussing ACRA and the National Heart Foundation. #vicresus
Session four will begin shortly. “Completing the chain - A restart” will look at the post cardiac arrest phase and including meeting our survivor, Stephen, mentioned at the start of the day. #vicresus
Dr Sara Barnes - Anaphylaxis mimics require clinical assessment. The use of adrenaline in the field is always the primary line of treatment. It won’t hurt them, but not using it may.
Keep patients calm and let them know you are obtaining help.
#vicresus
Dr Sara Barnes has a huge amount of high level detail related to Mast Cell degranulation in anaphylaxis. This is more detail that the average first aid student needs, but great from a trainers perspective. #vicresus
Skye Coote - Stroke to needle times are well outside best practice time frames based on cellular death in the brain. The MSU improves a field response and is incorporating Telehealth to improve assessments and appropriate treatments. #vicresus
Skye Coote joins us as a Nurse Practitioner in the field on stroke. Talking about the Melbourne Mobile Stroke Unit with an onboard CT scanner and a dedicated stroke team. #vicresus
Dr Janet Bray - language for call-takers is very important. Only 75% of OHCA are recognised by the call takers. Language changes are being implemented into the scripts. #vicresus
