If we are not exposing our players' weaknesses intentionally, consistently, and persistently then defenders and teams WILL expose them in games

You work on your game all summer... and nothing seems to change when you get to the game. Why is that? What must we prioritize? Coach @TommyTempesta breaks it down

At 50 years old, former NBA player and NCAA National champion, Michael Dickerson looks like he can still play at a high level. Enjoy 4 minutes of myself and him going back and forth.

He was 6-23 from the field before this….
This is a 6’2 guard bullying his way to the paint, getting position and settling into a one-legged fadeaway to tie the game. Genuinely one of the greatest scorers alive.

Wait… he’s 50????? It’s not often you get to run with former NBA players at your local LA fitness and it’s also rare that someone is still throwing down like this at 50. He’s not on social media (yet) but his story and the way he STILL competes is inspiring. He is in incredible shape and rarely misses to this day. Knocking down shots off balance, no hold follow throughs, fades, drifts, catching low passes and he has organized this naturally over the years. All principles we groove and explore with players at BB.

The ball being that far left (on top of left shoulder) makes it extremely difficult to control “impulse”. This increase in degrees of freedom makes it difficult to control “how far the ball travels”. Can be optimized in season in a very short period of time @TommyTempesta @trainwjc x.com/BrickCenter_/status/20…

How shooting coaches look at us when we say form isn’t the problem

Players have taken thousands of shots throughout their career. Their movement system isn’t waiting for you to “fix” it. So the goal isn’t perfect form. It’s making shots in real games getting the ball to the target under stress. Internal cues like “tuck your elbow in” or “get under the ball” slow players down. The right, strategic environment allows the solution to show up.

How could you watch that game last night and not want to be apart of that energy. Competing at the highest level for a 💍. Doesn’t get better than that

Got off the phone with one of our guys who’s competing for a NBA roster spot this summer. He said the biggest thing we give him is the ability to LET GO and take the thinking out of his shot. That’s Calibration in one line. We don’t add to a player’s mind. We remove the noise so the body does what it already knows how to do

Imagine you look in the mirror and you are the player you aspire to be: Never second guessing your shot You feel like nobody can take the ball away You kill going left and right Scoring effortlessly at all 3 levels Throwing no look lobs on the break and getting your teammates going locking up your matchup on the other end And you have the same confidence when you are 0-10 as you are when you go 10-10. This isn’t fantasy. This is what happens when you start preparing your SYSTEMS for what the game demands. Your Vision. Your Movement. Your relationship with the ball. Your shot under pressure. When all 4 are calibrated, this is who you become.

What is the goal of the defense? To disrupt your rhythm, timing, and coordination. So why are sessions at every level being conducted with no defender? No real threat? We can address things in isolation. Yes. But then it must be tested. Say you are grooving movement patterns, can this player execute it LIVE If you never test it live, it doesn’t exist.
