If you’ve noticed that the relevance of GPT answers has gone to hell lately, sorry it’s my fault.

@planningpoker hey, I’m getting mass email from your system out of nowhere. Did you get hacked? Getting pw reset emails every few seconds for a ton of users, none of which are me.

Whatever is happening it’s probably a code red. In case you’re not aware.

I’m kind of done with this platform at this point I think. Maybe I’ll be back but I’m honestly not sure. Where else can I connect with you?

I spend tons of time learning topics like critical thinking, logic/reason, skepticism, science, evolution, and physics. Most people I work or spend time with are educated, reasonable, and progressive. So when I encounter someone who is anti-science or anti-LGBTQ it baffles me.

People don’t stop for a second to realize insurance *is* a form of socialized healthcare. It’s just a fucking worse one with tremendous waste and unequal care.

Okay, being able to see northern lights in North Carolina and take pictures like this with a phone is pretty bad ass (full disclosure, lightly retouched, but very minorβ€”long exposure does a pretty solid job.)

I honestly don’t love to tweak my photos much when I’m taking pictures of something like this, so here are the originals, unfiltered.

Me setting up a new ChatGPT session and somehow believing it won't generate random hallucinations this time.

Breathe if you have like 89 tabs open in VS Code with random pastes and you're not sure what half of it is anymore.

@Jabra_US can you please, please add option to enable hearthrough (sidetone?) when mic muted? When muted I’d still like to hear my surroundings. Plus this would be a game-changer for @ChatGPTapp voice chat (all-day wear, active voice session, mute to pause chat session.)

I mean honestly if we can get a solid, hybrid open/closed-air set of earbuds that can mute a GPT voice session (to β€œpause” it) we’d literally be on par with the movie HER. You guys are that close.

Honest question: If someone had a database of, say, 1mil pages of content, a high percentage being spam, plus related records like username, email, IP address, signup date, content revision history, etc. Would that be of any value for any company? And by value I mean bucks.

Smart: Write a simple console app that uses FTP libraries to pull 100k files from a server. Smarter: Write a simple console app that generates a custom transfer queue to run in FileZilla (also getting auto retry, parallelization, file comparison, auth negotiation, etc.)

Here’s an example of why indexes can add crazy performance gains in SQL Server. We had an old index but it was missing a field and cover so I added it. Total duration went from 1hr execution time per hour (at 50-75k executions) to under 15s per hour (at 1.25mil executions).

If I count when I started learning how to code, almost 30 years. 🫒

how long have you been coding for?

Yes or No? If records are stored with a GUID identifier, it's better to let the code, or even the client app, generate the ID whenever possible (i.e. not the database).

40% No

I can't believe how much faster it is to get a value from a Dictionary<string, string> than it is to get a value from a List<MyClass> using LINQ and a predicate. Guys it's so much faster. For a few million iterations I'm talking several hours vs. a couple of minutes.
