🛑Did you know that the Irish government is trying to bring in legislation to ratify the #ISDS pillar of the #CETA trade deal that would allow for big corporations to sue Ireland in investor courts for huge sums of money? This system is well known to impact on environmental and climate action. Register here for this webinar taking place on Thursday, 15 Jan, from 7:30 to 9pm: ow.ly/eaRb50XU0xP @Comhlamh

Ireland is already dangerously off track on its climate targets and facing fines of up to €26 billion for failing to meet them. An Coimisiún Pleanála are currently considering a planning application for a commercial LNG terminal in north Kerry, and the potential consequences are stark. The Government must provide clear policy guidance on commercial LNG. 👉Learn what's at stake here: trocaire.org/news/climate-ju… Minister for Climate, Energy, and Environment Darragh O’Brien has already suggested that commercial LNG would be against Ireland’s climate law, and that commercial LNG would not proceed, surmising it would be illogical, given that even a State-led facility would need to be phased out within 15 years.

An Coimisiún Pleanála's decision for a commercial Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal at Tarbert, north Kerry is due by January 13th. If approved, this would be absolutely devastating for Ireland's climate and human rights obligations - let us explain why ⬇️

A huge thanks to @Irish_Aid, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, @HMcEntee, and Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, @nealerichmond for their recent announcement of funding for 2026. Together, we can save and change lives in the world's most vulnerable communities. As ever, we are grateful for Irish Aid's support, particularly in such challenging times for humanitarian organisations, given cuts and the multitude of crises around the world. We'll never stop doing all we can to support those who need it most, and promote peace and justice!

irishexaminer.com/opinion/co… - Trócaire’s Country Director for Sudan, Mary Wamuyu, writes of the difference that Irish solidarity can make in what has become ‘the forgotten war’. "What is happening in Sudan is a manufactured famine, and alongside it, a genocide. Women’s bodies are treated as battlegrounds. Sexual violence is used as a strategy of war. Childhoods are erased before they begin. A generation will bear the consequences of this trauma long after the gunfire stops. I have worked with Trócaire for 14 years. In that time, I have witnessed the difference that Irish solidarity can make.''

🐔Instead of gunfire there’s now clucking, bleating and buzzing! 'The impact this has had has been amazing. I now have 150 chickens which produce around 140 eggs every day. I have people who call each day to buy the eggs and I am now supplying restaurants. I’m earning more than I did before I lost everything and am able to feed the children and pay for their school materials.' trocaire.org/news/it-helped-…

🚨 The #Omnibus is dismantling human rights protections under the guise of "simplification." @Europarl_EN just aligned with far-right to weaken corporate accountability—despite research showing strong due diligence BUILDS competitiveness. 👉 buff.ly/VqZpuHE
