My new EP Etc. All The Rest is available where ever you find music. It’s a story of a guy lost out in West Texas, and it’s some of my best work. symphony.to/troy-cartwright/…

Feels like the end of an era. I have flown @SouthwestAir from BNA to DAL probably 80 times in the last 10 years. I never even thought twice about it. With all the recent changes, I checked out @AmericanAir and was $250 cheaper. and the flight times were better.

Pilgrimage Fest was great this year. Kings of Leon was far and away the best act that I saw. It was a complete show and the visuals were particularly stunning. Sam Fender was also very good, I’d see him again. Not my fav JM show but that’s just bc his acoustic tour was 🤯

I read two books. One was from an author that puts out several books a year, and the other from an author that puts out one book every decade. The main difference between the two is that one I still remember and think of often, and the other I’ve never thought about again.

That feeling is one I’ve been wrestling with. I wrote a little bit more about that, and ‘Conventional Wisdom’ open.substack.com/pub/troyca…

something i think about a lot: when the Wright brothers flew successfully for the first time in 1903, nobody believed them for almost 5 years.

The scoreboard was never the point. Meaning > Metrics.

I write a lot about the creative process. I think being creative is the closest thing to magic we’ve got, and to me, it is reflective of the miracle of life itself. A lot of people tell me they’re not creative. I don’t think that’s true.

I think certain things about society shake it out of us, tamp it down. But i think it’s inside everybody, and i always try and encourage people to let it out. I try and inspire bc I think we need it, now more than ever.

Maybe some of us would score higher on a natural aptitude test of creativity, but I think we all have the ability to grow the muscle. Anyway, it’s just something I’ve been thinking about. We need your creativity. The world would look so bland w/o it.

I think 1:30PM is the perfect flight time. You still get your morning at home, and you’ve got plenty of time at your new destination for an activity. You can have a coffee or a beer on the flight, it’s wide open. World is your oyster.
