We cannot survive another generation of citizens who despise our nation's shared values and principles. We will fight alongside anyone who wants to restore those in our society. We joke about winning the life lottery, because we were born in the USA, but it’s not far from the truth. These visitors here for the World Cup are getting to experience what we often take for granted. I live in Alabama. I can start in Mobile and drive north for 5 hours, and still be in Alabama. My state has beautiful sandy beaches, and also has the foothills of the Appalachians. In between, we have a super speedway that pushes the limits of American muscle. Talladega. NASA is here. The Army’s rotary wing flight school is here. We have a festival every year to celebrate peanuts. We celebrate the harvest of a crop with funnel cakes and music. 2 teams from my state are currently in the College World Series, and that isn’t even our most popular sport. Don’t even get me started on football Saturdays in the fall. It’s something else entirely. My state is just 1 of 50 states that are all equally wonderful. This country is awesome, and I do love it so. 🇺🇸
Soooo true.
It's interesting that Euro tourists think US food is beyond delicious and US tourists think Euro food has miraculous weight loss properties.

NEW: Google planning to release millions of mosquitoes into California to allegedly help stop diseases The tech giant is seeking federal approval to release up to 32 million ‘specially treated’ mosquitoes in California and Florida over the next two years as part of an effort to reduce the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, including West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever. The proposal is currently under review by the US Environmental Protection Agency, which is accepting public comments through June 5 before deciding whether to issue an experimental use permit, per NYP.

If Chromebooks are “essential to the curriculum” for elementary students (or any students), then they need to find a different curriculum.
Kids in Lower Merion school district in Pennsylvania get iPads starting in kindergarten, switch to Chromebooks in second grade and get their own MacBooks in eighth grade. Hundreds of parents signed a petition asking to preserve their ability to opt their children out of using digital devices during the school day. The school district has pushed back, saying it’s not feasible to let hundreds of students opt out of technology that is essential to the curriculum.

"If children automatically think 'old thing bad' they were poorly raised." @ubiquitousnewt

“When you were 10, did you like films that were made 30 years ago?” I grew up on Western genre films and traveling to classic car shows listening to the Beach Boys, etc. Some things are indeed timeless. If children automatically think “old thing bad” they were poorly raised.

Rotisserie Chickens will soon be able to be purchased with SNAP funds. Thoughts?

I need to know who wrote this speech. It's amazing.
Pardon me, I’ll just be over here injecting this speech directly into my veins.

Just started reading Catcher In The Rye this morning. I'm only one chapter in and I gotta say, I find it very obnoxious. It the entire thing in this ridiculous "I'm a hip cool kid" voice? I don't think I can take it.

Omar reading "World War 11" isn't a language thing or a reading thing. It's an American thing. No real American would ever have read that as 11, not even as an innocent mistake. Only a foreigner would. Someone who is not of American culture, and who has not even bothered to be.
Rep. Ilhan Omar: “The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked… during World War ELEVEN.” She must have gotten her education in the Quality Learing Center.
