✉️💰Einstein’s “God Letter “ was auctioned off in 2018 for nearly $3 million.
It’s one of the clearest windows into Einstein’s private views on organized religion late in life. 👀
He wasn’t a traditional atheist (he often described himself as believing in “Spinoza’s God”—basically the orderly, harmonious laws of the universe itself), but he was very critical of the personal, anthropomorphic God of the Bible and Christianity.
He goes on to say the same about Jewish religion specifically: an “incarnation of the most childish superstitions,” and that the Jewish people aren’t “chosen” or inherently better than any other group.
And to think that Israel wanted to make him their king in 1952. 😅😏
