Vlahović himself stepped up to negotiate directly with Comolli—"for the first time in history, I think, that a player handles his own contract renewal negotiations."
The player negotiated by himself, which tells you exactly how desperately Vlahović wanted to stay at Juventus.
He asked for €8 million in salary alongside a €6 million signing-on fee.
All he needed to hear to sign was €7 million in salary plus a €5 million signing-on fee, and the deal would have been sealed.
Instead, Comolli chased him away. He told him: "The absolute limit is 6 and 4." 😄 He literally lost the player over a mere €1 million salary difference!
It could have easily been wrapped up at a €7 million salary and a €5 million signing-on fee, and this whole saga would be over.
That failure Comolli threw Vlahović away over a €1 million annual difference, just so he could proudly say that Juventus's strict wage cap remains €6 million.
What kind of absolute failure is this????
