impressive productivity, all in a span of a single year
As my first full calendar year working full-time on #rustlang OSS drew to a close, I thought it might be illuminating to reflect back on what I worked on. The breadth of crates surprised me! Time really does fly when you’re having fun. jack.wrenn.fyi/blog/2022-ret…

choosing clear terminology can be very hard when teaching others, especially beginners... I recently had to guide someone install and use #debian, install and setup dev tooling (#rustlang toolchain, and helix), all for the first time, and it was a learning experience for me too

one notable thing is my failure to distinguish between a (virtual) terminal and a shell (Bash in this case)... opening a terminal immediately presents a shell instance, making it hard to explain that they are not the same thing

Replying to @wesbos
One thing to consider beyond the amazing DX of Tauri is the focus on security. The project went through a long and deep security audit and continues to verify major versions. This means that your apps can be hardened from day 1 instead of applying weird hacks.

This is really amazing to see and a very solid data point validating that Rust adoption brings significant security advantages! Congrats to the @Android Rust team!
For more than a decade, memory safety vulnerabilities have consistently represented more than 65% of vulnerabilities across products, and across the industry. On Android, we’re now seeing something different: security.googleblog.com/2022…

Using Rust code in JavaScript via WASM can be challenging. @jkomyno presented a language parser written in Rust, compiled with wasm-bindgen, and interpreted by Node.js. He observed limitations for production use cases and discussed alternatives. ➡️ youtu.be/IBzNKh5WGW4

I been hearing good things (more and more this is the recommended #rustlang web server framework), finally got to play, and it is extra smooth so far, and I also appreciate the many examples
📢 axum 0.6.0-rc.5 was just released. This will most likely be the final release candidate before the 0.6.0 release. It took quite a while to get state and fallback inheritance working in a simple and intuitive way, but I feel good about where we ended up.
