It is with great sadness that we report the death of our dear friend and colleague Robert Stern on 21 August 2024.
Bob was well known and respected around the world for both his outstanding scholarship and his kindness. He will be greatly missed.

Striking to see the difference in retribution / securities between 🇩🇪 and 🇳🇱 parts of the contract. But that's a bigger problem we won't solve until Germany finally decides to walk away from "Stipendium" formats for postdocs. (@HenkelStiftung - if you could set an example..)

It turns out they've known for days that the 🇳🇱🇧🇪🇩🇪 cross-border train is (yet again) interrupted due to rainfall shortage of personnel. But @DB_Info only notify travellers about an hour before the trip. And needless to say, nobody organizes any substitutive transport

@DB_Info is accomplishing the ultimate level of reliability: when you buy a ticket, you can be almost 100% sure that the trip will be cancelled
