This is supposed to be a dig against Linux, but it's actually why Linux is so great. There are so many different versions, all of which benefit from work on the kernel, software that runs on it, etc., but users can have the experience they want.
I run Arch with Hyprland, but I'd never suggest that's the best for the average consumer. And if Arch or Hyprland become crappy in some way (like Windows has done...), I can switch to something else without losing my software, files, etc.
This is also one of the reasons why Android is so much better than iOS. I can have a big folding phone (eventually the trifold), but a normal person that just wants a normal phone can have that. Someone who loves photography can get a phone with a crazy camera, gamers can get gaming phones. We all benefit from work on Android as well as all apps for it.
