One of the aspects I lament from earlier times as a programmer was how much simpler getting things started was. Want to send out an email? Just use the inbuilt sendmail. Nowadays: Your email ain't getting anywhere without DMARC, DKIM and SPF authentication through SSL/TLS. Want to render some triangles? Just give me a couple vertices and colors then call this method. Nowadays: You ain't rendering anything without 1000 lines of Vulkan boilerplate code.

I'm floored by the demand of players wanting to play on our purely vanilla vintage story game server. It's Tuesday evening in EU and the 125 player server still has another 150 players waiting to join.

Microsoft has filed a DMCA takedown on a tiny voxel game Allumeria on Steam. This is ridiculous. All their art and code is original, its not even in the same programming language. At the very least this demands an official statement from Mojang what the point of this is.

For those on the fence, you need to be clear that the DMCA mechanism is for copyrighted works. Copyright law applies here. Just having similar looks does not constitute a copyright infringement.

Productivity tip: From time to time, block yourself from accessing all social media sites to break the habit from checking them over and over again, its done quite easily by adding entries to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file

Vintage Story is selling so well, we could spin up a whole second team to work on an brand new game if we wanted to. Still very surreal.

Black Myth: Wukong install size is 128.68 Gigabytes. The size of a small SSD. Vintage Story install size is 0.43 GB. You could install VS 300 times over and still consume less disk space. How is this even legal, lol.

Number one reason why you need a fast CPU during game development: So you can save time restarting Visual Studio whenever it bugs outšŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø Needs about 20 restarts a day on average. Le sigh.
