Janazah prayer is a form of intercession.
This is why people do not rush to stand in the first row when praying it, nor do they seek to be at the forefront of leading it, because they do not see themselves as qualified to be that means of intercession.
In the normal five daily prayers, the etiquette is to hasten to the first row. However, in the Janazah prayer, the etiquette is to stand in the back rows.
This is a practice that I rarely see here in the West, but it is something that we witnessed in Syria.
DIFFERENT ROUTE
It is narrated by Jabir b. Abdullah, who said: ‘On the day of Eid, the Prophet ﷺ would return via a different route’. (Bukhari, 986)
One of the wisdom for this is to meet more Muslims whilst returning from the prayer.
These Sunnahs of Eid are encouraged for
every Muslim, may Allah allow us all to act upon them and earn His pleasure.
