On this day in 1942, the U.S. Navy Pre-Flight School at UNC was formally commissioned. Over the next three and a half years nearly 20,000 Naval cadets would complete training programs in Chapel Hill.

We recently learned that the UNC System Board of Governors has its own theme song. The "Fanfare for the Board of Governors" was composed by a @UNCSchoolofArts student in 2008. soundcloud.com/heckmanmusic/…. This begs the question: when can we get a fanfare for the Archives?
