I almost missed my flight because I was broke by exactly $94.
The airport was packed.
People rushing everywhere.
Boarding had already started.
I stood at the counter sweating while the airline worker repeated the same sentence:
“Your luggage is overweight, sir.”
I opened my banking app three times like money would magically appear.
Nothing.
People behind me were getting irritated.
One man even sighed loudly and said, “Step aside if you can’t pay.”
I was exhausted.
Embarrassed.
Angry.
Then a man in a faded hoodie walked forward quietly.
“How much?”
The lady answered, “Ninety-four dollars.”
He tapped his card instantly.
I turned in shock. “Sir, please, let me get your number. I’ll pay you back.”
He smiled.
“No need.
You already helped me years ago.”
I froze.
I had never seen this man before in my life.
Before I could ask another question, he walked away into the crowd.
I never saw him again.
But on that flight, one memory kept replaying in my head:
Three years earlier, I had secretly paid a stranger’s grocery bill.
The total was exactly $94.
