Congratulations to Texas high schools for their incredible success at the Tournament of Champions, hosted by the University of Kentucky, last weekend.
Texas schools took home three of five championships in head-to-head debate events.
Two events featured an all Texas finals.
Liberal Arts and Science Academy, led by Texas Debate alum Yao Yao Chen, had four teams in elimination debates in policy debate and three in the Sweet Sixteen.
Bilal Faisal was 8th speaker, Anita Sosa was 11th, Ankit Bhasi was 15th.

Connie and William won their Quarters debate and will debate the top-seeded team from Liberty in the Wildcat semifinals debate tomorrow morning!
Ralph and LJ's tournament ended in doubles of Open. Congratulations to Danny and Margaret from Emory and good luck to them tomorrow!
This weekend Texas competed virtually at the JW Patterson Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky.
LJ/Ralph went 4-2 in Open and are debating Emory in doubles.
William/Connie went 4-2 in Wildcat and are debating Emory in quarters.
Sorin/Trishay finished 3-3 in Open.
Congratulations to first year Connie Jongkind for placing as the Top Speaker in the Wildcat Division of the 2024 JW Patterson Invitational Hosted by the University of Kentucky! This was Connie’s first competition as a Longhorn.
