Today, the Finance Minister will present Uganda's 2026/27 national budget of UGX 84.3 trillion, the largest in the country's history. Will it deliver for women and girls? As we await the budget reading, we look out for adequate financing for gender equality commitments, quality public services, and the recognition and redistribution of unpaid care and domestic work. The proposed budget represents a 16.5% increase from the UGX 72.38 trillion approved for FY 2025/26, which ends this month. #GenderResponsiveBudgeting #InvestInWomen #RecogniseCareWork

At the Women’s Movement Press Conference, @uwonet joined partners in calling for gender equity, democratic accountability, and ethical leadership as the 12th Parliament of Uganda organizes its leadership structures. “We are seeking parity, equity, and development. One person’s mistake should not be used against 50% of the population,” noted Rita Aciro, ED @uwonet. Over the years, women leaders have established a standard of leadership that continues to shape expectations for future women leaders. Article 33(4) of the Constitution guarantees women equal opportunities in political, economic, and social life. The Women’s Movement stands united in advancing inclusive and accountable governance. #WomenLeadershipUG @ccgea1 @FOWODE_UGANDA @SarahBireete @patriciamunabi @RitaAciro @WDNUganda @PerryAritua @WinnieKiiza
