Vermilion baseball team opens with two wins in US Bank Stadium, sweeping Rainy River 5-2 and 11-10. Jonathan Leon and Jakob Wiirre combine for 7 RBI in twinbill; Ryan Kling fans 8 in 5 innings in the opener.
Second semester addition is pitcher Steven Peterson of Bemidji. He was a four year letter winner for the Lumberjacks and notched two playoff wins on the mound in 2019. Welcome Steven!
Joining the Ironmen second semester is catcher Graham Porter of Portland, Oregon. Graham was his team MVP and hit .486 in his 2019 HS season. Welcome Graham!
Big news as we welcome Jakob Wiirre of Titusville, Fla., to the team. Jakob played at D1 Florida A&M, and hit .386 while notching 22 Ks in 12IP in a wood bat league this summer. He has extensive ties to Ely and the Iron Range. Welcome Jakob!
VCC Baseball welcomes Dalton Schreffler, all-conference P-SS from Ely. He went 5-1 on the mound as a junior with 46K in 42IP and hit .336 last summer in Legion. Welcome Dalton!
Welcome Class of 2020 recruit Peyton Ross, C from Palm Bay, Fla. He hit .455 with seven RBI before his senior season was cut short. Welcome to the Ironmen!
Welcome Class of 2020 recruit Jacob Worley, a P-1B from Ocoee, Fla. Jacob was 3-0 with a 1.18 ERA in an abbreviated senior year with 33K in 26 IP and a .389 average with 18 RBI in 11 games.
