UFC 250 Freedom Fest Thoughts
I’m here at UFC 250 Freedom Fest, and first off, I want to say this has truly been a one-of-one experience. The energy, fans, fighters, and atmosphere have been incredible. Credit where it’s due: UFC and Freedom Fest delivered an amazing fan experience.
That said, as a long-time supporter of both
Crypto.com and VeChain, I have to express some disappointment with their activation efforts at this event.
The UFC has some of the most visible sponsorships in sports, and crypto platforms are among the biggest names on display. Yet, when it comes to capitalizing on one of the largest UFC events ever, the community experience feels largely absent.
UFC 250 presented a massive opportunity to onboard new users, educate fans about blockchain technology, reward loyal supporters, and showcase the future of Web3.
Unfortunately, very little of that seems to have happened.
To be clear: I’m grateful that
Crypto.com is awarding fighters $1 million in CRO. The athletes deserve recognition and support.
But where’s the love for the communities that have supported
Crypto.com and VeChain for years?
Walking around Freedom Fest, the contrast is impossible to ignore:
• Monster Energy gave away free drinks to fans throughout the event.
• Meta AI created an incredible fan experience with Meta glasses, interactive experiences, and AI-generated personalized fighter walkouts.
• Dodge is hosting vehicle and cash giveaways for attendees.
• Zac Brown Band delivered a free 90-minute concert for fans and attendees.
These companies aren’t just sponsoring the event—they’re actively engaging their communities and creating memorable experiences for fans.
Meanwhile, for those of us who believe in the future of crypto, it’s hard not to feel that a major opportunity was missed.
With all the innovation happening across the VeBetter ecosystem—and all the growth
Crypto.com continues to achieve—I expected more for the fans and community members who have been here from the beginning.
I’ve spent years supporting these projects. I teach my students about blockchain technology and why I believe projects like VeChain and
Crypto.com can make a difference.
That’s why this disappointment comes from a place of passion, not criticism for criticism’s sake.
I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the UFC 250 experience. But as a supporter of both projects, I can’t help but feel that this was a missed opportunity to grow, educate, reward, and strengthen our communities.
Despite my disappointment, I remain a believer in both ecosystems. If the leadership teams at
Crypto.com or VeChain ever need community feedback, event activation ideas, or grassroots support at future UFC events, I’m always available to help in any way I can.
Strong communities aren’t built by companies alone—they’re built together.
