Treated myself to a nice socket set for working on the road. It took me exactly 1.5 hours to lose the 10mm on the FIRST REPAIR I ATTEMPTED.
You really can’t write this shit.
(Actually, Marc Newson's Ford 021C concept was my dream car right around 2000. It's the perfect encapsulation of the style of that time, a Deee-Lite/CD-ROM/Dreamcast/iMac/Virgin Megastore car. I still want one today!!! But the Fun Design Train now only stops at Luxury Station ☹️)

With their purchase of a used Toyota Avalon, my in-laws have completed the trifecta. They have inadvertently opened a portal to the plane of eternal reliability.
TT Project Update: Good and Bad News.
GOOD: The VW experts at Total Mechanical Services got it running from its own fuel pump!! It’s no longer dead!!!
They also did an overall assessment to let me know what else will be needed to get it on the road. This brings me to the bad..
- valve cover leaking
- cam tensioner leaking
- this means full timing belt service
- new fuel line from tank to fuel filter
- new tires
So, yeah.
Having this awesome shop do the work would cast FAR more than the car is worth. But I’m stubbornly trying to save it from scrap
So, I’m towing the (now running!) car back and getting as far as I can on my own.
Definitely bit off way more than I can chew here, and I’m sure it will be going back to TMS... but gotta get whatever I can done first.
Finally got out for a 3hr highway drive (within lockdown rules) and this car is very good. Very, very good.
I’m very happy because of how very good it is.
Also, new tint & quick wash ✨
Did I mention that it’s good?
