What is the greatest country in the world? Five years on, GreatCountry.org refreshed. 159 countries, 37 statistically uncorrelated indicators, from democracy and life expectancy to climate, asylum applications, working hours and Olympic medals per capita. greatcountry.org

Updated my pet project: GreatCountry.org. As far as I know it's the largest independent study ranking countries on factors that don't correlate with each other. Includes loneliness, generosity, working hours, asylum applications, biodiversity, food self-sufficiency, Olympic medals per capita and 30 other data sources.

👋 The web doesn't need a smarter ad machine. It needs search that is paid for by the user it serves. That is Kagi. And our Search API is launching soon, so the same principle and highest quality results are available to builders too. techcrunch.com/2026/05/19/go…

Starting next week, we’ll begin onboarding developers to the Kagi API dashboard. With the new Search API, developers can bring Kagi Search into their own apps, tools, and AI systems. Here's an early look:

"One news window per day." This is exactly a defining mechanism of Kagi News: news.kagi.com

3) Doomscroll the news Sapolsky: "You read about what's happening in Ukraine or Bangladesh and you activate the same 150-million-year-old stress circuitry that evolved for outrunning predators." One news window per day. Same for social.

Thanks for a wonderful review Matt!
A more positive post this week! I was happy to run across @KagiHQ, which not only offers a paid search engine free of ads and bias, but also runs an initiative to improve visiblity of small and independent websites. mattcasmith.net/2026/04/12/k…

Someone made a Kagi memecoin. We built a LinkedIn translator and accidentally became a crypto project. 2026 is wild.

I appreciate the love but I don't mess with things I don't understand. The best way to support Kagi long term is to become a customer and spread the word. You can pay for it in crypto too. 🙏

Happy to see TC coverage today too. And not a single mention of a funding round, an LLM, or a pivot to AI. I think we broke the system

First time occupying both #1 and #2 on HN simultaneously. At this rate we'll have the entire front page by 2029 and dang will finally just redirect it to kagi.com
