A brief slice of indie hacking life 🚀:
— Finances became an issue, so I postponed projects for two weeks to resolve it. Looked for a job, found a job. I'm very happy it's part-time, which means I can continue working on projects.
Interviews were tough. For Design Engineer positions, you need to design interfaces on a whiteboard in real-time, as well as describe API for a React component or, for some reason, write a small CRUD on the backend. Companies still have very different ideas about what a Design Engineer is.
— It's no longer popular to brag about money on Twitter. Now you need to show that you're an underdog. So guys who were showing 2k MRR a week ago are now saying they have 0 and they're living in their parents' house and getting fired from work... but they have an amazing marketing tool that will make x1000 in 1 day.
— Decided to dedicate one day a week (a day off) to finding my style in design. Realized that the result of creative work is a small snapshot of the mind, philosophical reflection, or worldview that should say something to viewers and me. Something like an artifact emitting thought-form radiation and lying on the side of the path we walk when we're looking for ourselves. My style was mainly monochrome minimalism, but I realized that monochrome retro-futuristic skeuomorphism is closer to me. I'll try and share the results later.
— S0ma and Invitely are still the main priority, but I finished a thing with niche work over the weekend. Practice with browserless scraping on the backend didn't go to waste.
— Signed up for another freelance gig. They asked to design an app for tracking meditation, sleep, and working with music and actions, like blocking the phone so you don't look on Instagram. My first thought was "yet another tracking app", but then I thought, why not. What if it takes off? This is startup / indie hacking after all
Have a nice week, guys!
