I think it's bad that my coworkers are losing their jobs. We need everyone, including a huge chunk of our editors, to make a good, trustworthy product in a world that is increasingly slop content.

Long-gestating plans to redevelop TCAAP have always had elements of a gothic horror story — scale, tension, an abandoned setting. The latest effort to reanimate the project adds a Frankenstein quality: stitching together multiple developers. startribune.com/tcaap-rice-c…

The newly endorsed Republican candidate for governor is (understandably) upset with the state party chair after he undermined the endorsement. Two people who may need to be allies if they are going to succeed. A lot of anger at Plechash today.
From CD2: REPUBLICANS CONDEMN STATE CHAIR'S ATTEMPT TO UNDERMINE GRASSROOTS DELEGATES AND PARTY CONSTITUTION.  This is the swamp in action. I won 17 out of 19 straw polls and our victory last weekend was a confirmation of our success. We won on Saturday, we're going to win in August and again in November.  Thank you, CD2.

The GOP hoped to avoid a bruising primary by narrowing down a 3-way race for governor and U.S. Senate at its convention. Republicans emerged with a 3-way race for both, and new political baggage. It's only amplifying calls to switch to an early primary. startribune.com/how-a-conven…

Delegates paid tribute to Derek Chauvin and several candidates took increasingly conservative stances to appeal to the small crowd of activists who make endorsements. Then the party undermined that exact endorsement. What was the point? startribune.com/how-a-conven…

“I think what these two days have proven is that the endorsement process has lived its useful life," said Sen. Bill Weber. @AdamSchwarze said the process has value, but said "we should have come out united" but instead there's an "unsettled feeling." startribune.com/how-a-conven…

Text from former GOP Senate Pres. Dave Osmek, who is very much not holding back right now: "Any convention that sees fit to have a Moment of Silence for Derek Chauvin should not be able to chose what flavor juice is in their sippy cup, much less the next Governor of Minnesota"

Demuth did not directly address whether the endorsement still holds value. She said the process “broke down” over the weekend. “Decisions will be made later by the parties, I’m sure,” Demuth said. startribune.com/demuth-enter…
