60 more high-genetic Cross Breed Jersey (CBJY) pregnant cows and heifers from Andhra Pradesh have safely arrived in the state late last week. Procured in collaboration with the NDDB Dairy Services (NDS), this elite herd is currently undergoing standard quarantine protocol at KVK, Kharsangsa, before being inducted into various Departmental cattle farms across our districts. This is a continuation of our ongoing livestock upgrade mission, with 108 cattle already arrived out of the targeted 239 cattle.

AQUAEX Northeast-2026 at Guwahati was a meaningful convergence of fisheries experts from across the nation to chart a prosperous future for regional fisheries and aquaculture.

Heartiest congratulations to our Fisheries officers on their well-deserved promotion to the posts of DFDO/Farm Manager/Assistant Director (Group ‘A’ Gazetted). With the last DPC having been conducted in 2016 and vacancies arising since 2022, this long-awaited promotion is a significant milestone that will undoubtedly boost the morale of our officers. It is particularly gratifying to see the first batch of Fisheries Officers recruited through APPSC earning this achievement through their dedication and service. Wishing them all success in their new responsibilities. I am confident they will continue to serve the Dept. and the state with renewed commitment, professionalism and excellence.

The rapid stride in infrastructure development across the state is very much apparent under the dynamic leadership of HCM Shri Pema Khandu ji and DyCM Shri Chowna Mein ji. This beautiful, modern Conference Hall in Longding district is yet another concrete evidence that our government is dedicated to inclusive growth, leaving no region behind on our collective journey toward a Viksit Arunachal. Called on by a delegation from the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd. (NERAMAC), led by its Chairman, in Guwahati today. The team presented a series of ambitious project proposals for our state, notably an Integrated Value Chain Development Project for Guchhi and Shiitake Mushrooms, and the establishment of an E-Auction Centre for Large Cardamom. To ensure successful implementation, directed both NERAMAC and our departmental officials to identify suitable locations for these specialized crops and develop them as model clusters, which can subsequently be replicated across other parts of the state. Also explicitly instructed that all data, field assessments and documentation must be thoroughly authentic and rooted in local field realities. Ground-level precision is non-negotiable for sustainable development.

HAD a wonderful and highly productive time at the Networking Dinner hosted by Aquaex Northeast in Guwahati last evening. The event was a fantastic platform to interact with senior officers, industry veterans, and leading aquaculture experts from across the nation. Meaningful dialogues, exchange of ideas and exploration of potential collaborations made the evening both insightful and rewarding.

ON the historic occasion of Shri Narendra Modi Ji becoming India's longest-elected serving Prime Minister, a special worship program was organized by the Kanubari BJP Mandal at Kanubari. Joined by ZPMs, Karyakartas and local well-wishers, prayers were offered for Hon'ble Prime Minister's good health, longevity and continued success in service to the nation. The gathering also highlighted the landmark achievements and transformative progress India has witnessed under his visionary leadership.

*KHET BACHAO ANDOLAN:* Launched the month-long, state-wide *‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’* today at the Tana Hari Fish Farm in Emchi Village, Doimukh, organised by the Department of Agriculture, GoAP. Years of over-exploitation and excessive use of chemical fertilizers have severely impacted our soil and water resources. Protecting our land for future generations is now a collective responsibility. Through this meaningful abhiyan, we are encouraging farmers, youth and officials to embrace sustainable and eco-friendly practices such as natural farming and vermicomposting, and move away from harmful chemical dependency. Sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare for spearheading this important nationwide initiative. White Pekin ducks, popularly known as the 'American Pekin', have been successfully introduced and reared on a trial basis at our Govt. Farm in Nirjuli. Known for their rapid growth, high hatchability and superior meat production, the breed has shown excellent adaptability to the agro-climatic conditions of Arunachal Pradesh. Its introduction is expected to open new avenues for poultry-based entrepreneurship and livestock diversification for our farmers.

Undertook an extensive tour of various research and demonstration facilities of ICAR-NEH Region in Umiam, Meghalaya, and interacted closely with scientists and technical experts on scientific innovations and modern farming technologies being developed for the North Eastern region. Discussed and sought technological and scientific solutions to various site specific issues including small machinery for land terracing and jhumland reclamation, citrus decline and pollination issues in kiwi fruits. Training and capacity building collaborations under Catch Them Young Programme of Agriculture & allied departments were also explored for promoting Agri-business and entrepreneurship.

DELIGHTED and proud to have virtually attended the landmark launch of the 'Arunachal Kiwi Mission: The USP of Arunachal Pradesh' this evening. This transformative and historic initiative will put Arunachal Pradesh firmly on the global organic kiwi map. The mission was launched by Hon'ble Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia ji in the gracious presence of our Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu ji and senior officials in New Delhi today.

HAD a highly meaningful interaction at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region in Umiam, Meghalaya this evening. Deliberated on key technological interventions to address pressing issues across agriculture and its allied sectors, alongside identifying critical areas for future institutional collaboration. Joined by my Secretaries of Agriculture and Horticulture, the meeting was attended by the Director of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Director of ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, along with senior scientists and officials of the institute.

VISITED the Fruits Wholesale Market at Tetelia, Guwahati this morning and had an insightful interaction with members of All Assam Fruits Growers and Sellers Association. Understanding their market dynamics, logistical challenges and distribution networks offered valuable lessons that can greatly help in strengthening and uplifting our own local farmers and agricultural markets.

THE 6th Meeting of the Governing Body of North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management (NERIWALM) was convened today under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri C. R. Patil ji at Guwahati, Assam. Sought formal collaboration with NERIWALM in areas such as soil and land use surveys, watershed and springshed management, land capability studies, and catchment development planning. Also proposed for a Technological Resource Centre or State Soil Museum in Arunachal Pradesh as a future Centre of Excellence for land and water resource knowledge. Further, emphasized on the pay scale restructuring in line with UGC/AICTE norms, strengthening specialised training, research, faculty recruitment and institutional capacity in the water resource sector. The Union Minister also virtually inaugurated the International Hostel-cum-Guest House at the NERIWALM campus in Tezpur.
