Soybean Crop Response to PPO herbicides.
With many soybeans emerging in NE IA and recent rainfall being the 1st "activating" rains on many of the herbicide applications containing PPO herbicides (Valor or Authority based), many fields have tough looking soybeans.
This "burn" that is taking place typically does not result in plant death and in most cases the plant recovers well. Studies show anywhere from no to small impacts on yields.
Regardless, this is the small price to pay for the value these herbicides bring for weed control in soybeans, not to mention the importance of herbicide rotation in resistance management.
Look for new growth that looks "normal" as signs the plant is recovering. With the warm sunny weather coming over the next 10 days, by June 1st this will likely be water under the bridge.
